Childrens Doctor: Black Nail Polish? How would you parents feel?

Okay so i am a doctor at my own practice. I am not goth or anything. I am kinda prep but not over board. So i ussaly see children ages 5-17. Is it okay to where black nail polish? I am very friendly towards kids and i have to say i like it when people get the wrong impression of me then find out how i am on the inside. So what to you think?

Thanks.Childrens Doctor: Black Nail Polish? How would you parents feel?
Honestly, I have never noticed the color nail polish my child's doctor was wearing.

I agree that it is unprofessional but I think its nonsense for a parent to base whether they took their children to see you based on the color polish you choose to put on your nails.Childrens Doctor: Black Nail Polish? How would you parents feel?
I wouldn't like to see black nail polish on my child's doctor. I think it's unprofessional, dirty looking, goth - which I relate to negativity, low self-esteem, %26amp; suicidel, %26amp; just plain ugly %26amp; gross.
I wouldn't care if my kids doctor had purple hair and green polks dots. If they are conducting themselves in a way that makes me and my child feel at ease then that is fine by me. You should also think on not trying to be someone else and focus on being you. That is what people will notice.
I think if you were really a ';children's doctor'; you would refer to yourself as a pediatrician. And I don't think doctors say ';kinda,'; etc. You're what... 14?
No, that is unprofessional for work and it could frighten young children. Wear it on your days off.
You're a Dr. that has to come on here to ask about diarrhea, and who has sleepovers? Come on, you are not really a Dr. And just for the record, I don't think Doctors or nurses should even wear nail polish, nails need to be clean and polish-free if you are going to work with patients. My daughter has never had a pediatrician who wore nail polish.
First of all you are a professional, and if you want to wear black nail polish, take it off during business hours and put it back on when you leave....

You might scare small children with this. And if you were a real doctor you would have some common sense on not wearing it.... And beside coming to yahoo, shows your profession.....and shows that your just an average JO....
Check with your state law. I am sure you cannot wear nail polish at all if you work in an clinical environment. When I worked at nursing center with the seniors, the Dr's , CNA's, RA's,LPN's, Unit Secretaries, specialists, etc.. were not allowed nail polish since it can harbor germs. Interesting question. May we ask where you interned? Obviously they should be reported since they did not tell you about proper protocol.
Why would you lie on answers about being a doctor? Your previous questions make it clear that you are not a physician -- and your atrocious spelling helps confirm it.

Further... if you owned your own practice, you would have neither the time nor the inclination to be on yahoo answers this early in the day.
Almost everyone wears black nail polish at some point. Most doctors, though, don't bother putting polish on their nails to begin with. Don't you wear gloves rather often? It kind of defeats the purpose..
Who cares what color polish you're wearing?? Not me. My son's doc dresses like its still 1965 but I don't care. He's a great doctor %26amp; the baby loves him. Its called 'style'.
i really have no opinion on this matter...you want to wear nail polish...black or otherwise...it's really your choice.

what i do want to address is the fact that some people are more concerned with the state of your spelling! who cares? its a forum, and we are to give opinions on what the person has asked. she did not ask if her spelling skills would affect her doctoring skills, nor do people seem to read the whole statement...she also stated that she was on a shared computer...thus the diarrhoea and school field day postings.
no
I would have no problem with that, but I can sense a potential problem there.

I can imagine a paranoid mother getting the wrong impression and becoming worried. You probably won't have the time to let them completely see how you are on the inside and prove their 1st impressions wrong.

I don't know... It's your call.

I think black nails are cute, but I don't work with children very often.

The best remedy would be to draw their attention up to your face by being really sweet and always smiling.

Good luck and hope I helped!
Unprofessional.

(How do you hold a medical degree with that spelling?)
I've got a question for you.... If you are a doctor, why are you coming on answers to find out about your diarrhea problem??
Hate to say it, but I don't believe anyone could get through medical school with spelling so atrocious. And no one who owns their own pediatric practice is concerned with whether they are goth or prep.

Oh, gotcha! Look at her other questions. Posting ones about field day at school. I bet she's 12.
I honestly do not think it appropriate to wear nail polish at all. I know that you wash your hands as a doctor, but dark nail polish would make it difficult for the parent to see that your nails are clean (underneath). As a parent, people wearing black nail polish don't bother me, but I'd probably think twice about going to a doctor with nail polish (unless it was clear).

When I was pregnant with my daughter my ob/gyn was at a delivery so I was seen by her partner who had long nails and they actually scratched me a little during my ';exam.'; They were gloved, but I still didn't like it. So maybe I am prejudiced against fancy nails.
even tho black nailpolish being worn now in this century is mostly looked upon as unprofeshanable n gothy, but still if u like the color u like the color! that's none of other people's business 2 judge u!! as long as u express urself by the way u talk and treat other people. like some people who where all black n hav nose rings n stuff r VERY nice!!

So just be urself, make ur 1st impression as nice n friendly as possible. Hey! if u were my doctor n i saw u weaing black nail polish i would 1st think ';wow! a doctor that likes 2 wear black nailpolish, cool!'; but others may not think this way (again, every1 is different). But if the 1st words u said 2 me n the way 2 treated was very friendly i would be very happy 2 be ur patient!!
Um...sorry but black nail polish is very unprofessional and a pediatrician is suppose to be a professional!
Yeah, I read your other questions too. No way you're a doc. But two points for me anyway!
