Can nail polish ruin your nails?

Nail polish can discolor your nails, and also prevents your nails from ';breathing'; naturally. I personally do not use nail polish all the time, but only on special occasions. If you prefer to use daily, it may be good to take a break now and then.

Some people use a nail buffer to shine their nails without polish, which allows the nails to breathe. I have heard arguments for and against, that buffing either weakens nails or that it increases circulation and promotes nail growth

NOCan nail polish ruin your nails?
YES!! The esters in the polish, strip the natual oils from your nails!!
i don't think so, i alwayz put it on and my nails r the same, only more colorful!
Nail polish can't necessarly ruin your nails but it can discolor them.
no, acrylic nails can do quite a number though
i do not believe they can. However if you put polish on and not a base coat, if the color is dark, it can stain them.
no sometimes it adds nutrients. but if you wear it a lot and are outside a lot in the summer sometimes your nails turn a little yeallow when you remove the polish but it fades in a day or so
I Heard That If You Have Dark Nail Polish It Turns Your Nails Yellow.

YUK. :\
its full of chemicals so essentially its bad for your body. if you use it minimally like every once and a while you'll be fine.
Sometimes, when you remove it, it makes your nails rough or peels them a bit- but just use a nail buffer on them, and they'll be smooth again!
Doubtful. Nail polish remover on the other hand might (over a period of extended use) as it's a solvent.
