Can i use nail polish remover?

to remove my acrylic nails? becuz i can see my growth and i really want them off.Can i use nail polish remover?
No, but you can remove them yourself. Just buy acetone and soak your nails. :)Can i use nail polish remover?
yes, it has to be a remover with acetone though

soak them for a few minutes at a time

and do not 'rip' them off

the acetone will loosen the glue gradually

after they are removed, it it best to cut your real nail short

and only wear a strengthening polish for 2-3 weeks

also, doing soaks in gelatin (sounds weird but gelatin helps strengthen nails) not like jello but actual cooking gelatin that has no flavoring
You can use nail polish remover if it has acetone. Soak for five minutes, then buff them repeat until it is all off. DON';T pick at them, you will damage the nailbed. It can take a long time, so be patient!
Yes, soak them in the nail polish remover until they are soft enough to pry off. It will take at least a few minutes of soaking.
No you have to go to the nail salon to get them removed or try soaking your nails in acetone.
only some kinds work but yes i am actually im using one rite now to take off mine
go to a nail salon.

it could damage ur nails

I use black nail polish a lot, it but when i take it off it doesnt come off completly. How can i get it alloff

make sure you always use a base coat so its protecting your nails . natural nails stain like mad and dark colours tend to stain in the cuticle area and get all over you when removing it!!!

just make sure you use a base coat, you could even buff the nails before hand to smooth the nail bed out so it doesnt get trapped in ridges!! and always remember not to go too close to the cuticle area and too close to the skin around the nails :) use a good polish remover also, hope this helps xI use black nail polish a lot, it but when i take it off it doesnt come off completly. How can i get it alloff
pure acetoneI use black nail polish a lot, it but when i take it off it doesnt come off completly. How can i get it alloff
It's staining your actual nail; I don't think there IS a good way to get it all off, except to let your nail regrow. Black nail polish can also encourage nail fungus to grow and flourish; fungus LIKES dark places, you know. You might want to limit your use of the black to very short periods and give your nails a rest, some fresh air and sunshine. Won't hurt the rest of you either! :)

    sincerely,

    cryllie
take off as much as you can..then just wait a few days. it should eventually come off.
try a different kind of nail polish remover
Your best of first painting your nails with a clear, leaving to dry and then paiting with black. This way it won't stain your nails and will be much easier to get off.
it will probably take some time- but the next time you paint them black, use an undercoat and dont leave them black for so long between manicures, it sounds like you are staining your nails
Try using a good polish remover ....and you could get a fine buffing block at a beauty supply house to remove the stain............in the future .....Use a good base coat and then apply your polish ......and apply a good top coat to avoid chipping.......FYI you will not get fungus by wearing dark polish.....fungus/mold is caused by bacteria or moisture trapped either under a nail /or enhancement

Describe your hands (are you wearing nail polish)?

My hands are small for my height but I have long slender fingers. Right now I am wearing OPI Not Really a Waitress (which is a beautiful red) that looks great!Describe your hands (are you wearing nail polish)?
people say that i have piano fingers, and i actually play the piano. so my hands aren't really that big, there rather slender and my fingers are long, but my palm isn't that big.

and i'm wearing magenta maybelline nail polish. i think it looks pretty nice!Describe your hands (are you wearing nail polish)?
Yes, OPI ';I am not really a waitress'; http://www.opi.com/Classics/Classics-n.a…

is a gorgeous shade of red. My hands are pretty big, muscular and calloused from lifting weights and working outside. I usually file them and use OPI Matte Nail Envy so they grow and have no ridges or sharp edges on them. http://www.opi.com/trNenvy.asp

Have you ever used their ';try on this color'; virtual model studio? It's features a choice for five skin tones from light to dark and whenever you choose a nail color, the virtual model's fingernails change with it so you can match your skin tone and see how the nail color will look on your hands. http://www.opi.com/opi/opistudio.aspx

Plus Suzie's Beauty Blog which mentions a new trio color set of polish color based on the CW 90210 series which will be released in January 2009.
Actually for my body size I do have large hands and have always been embarrassed about them . I hated it when I was younger and I would hold hands with a boy and my hands were larger than his. I used to get manicure twice a week and was rather proud of my hands. Then I discovered the job of gardening and I never wear gloves, I like the feel of the earth. So know my hands are scratched and my fingernails are short with no polish. Now I don't care one way or the other what people think of my hands.
i have small hands with long, slender fingers. my nails are trimmed and rounded and somewhat long. i have a french manicure; one i did myself and since i have been doing it myself for a long time, it looks very good. i have 5 skinny silver rings stacked on my left middle finger and one silver ring on my right middle finger. i like watching them dance across the keyboard haha!
My palm is short but I have long slender fingers, I just got my nails done two days ago and right now they are just a normal color (the manicure was a special healthy offer) and now I have square nails with a streak of white painted on top to make them look healthy. I have a Tiffany %26amp; Co. ring I got from my boyfriend yesterday.
I have medium hands and mediumish (kind of thickish) fingers

I am wearing opi ';yes, I can-can!'; which is a super pretty maroon-ey brownish kind of color... idk here is a link to the color

    http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_XhVQml-prmM/SK…
i have normal sized hands but ive been told i have rly long fingers ahah i guess some ppl call them piano fingers? but i dont play piano. theyre rly white.. ahaha and i have this rly pretty blue color im not sure how to describe it its like in between light blue and dark blue i guess. oh wait thats regular blue..
My hands are huge for my 5'5 frame at the length of 21cm. I have thick finger bones which visually looks horrible. I have thick hands which result to very hard slaps. My finger nails are round and bare. I don't dare to wear nail polish because I don't want my too-big hands to be stared upon.

    :)
My hands are have long, skinny fingers and look child-like. They are excellent for typing and playing musical instruments. The nails are kept very short, and I am obsessive about keeping the area under the nails clean. There are freckles on my fingers and the back of my hands.
I am short and I have somewhat small hands with long fingers. I just polished them red/pink for christmas and it also is OPI nailpolish. I dont really like to apply nail polish often because I hate when it peels off and then Im too lazy to apply it back on again.
i have hands that are about 6 inches from bottum of the palm to the middle finger. im wearing deep purple nail polish that i just applied today so it looks pretty good! i drew a few designes on my hand today because i was bored in drivers ed and i had nothing else to do.
i hav pretty long fingers and tons of people say i would b really good @ the piano but i hate piano. but my violin teachr says i should b able to reach tons of hard notes cuz i can reach around lots. really handy if u ask me. no polish. im probs gonna eithr get a minicure soon or paint my nails myself though. wearin this really pretty ring too. it splits into 2 dolphins. it sounds wierd but its really pretty. and also im not really sure wat i did but i hav a really big cut on my palm. the mark is pretty faded away but u can still see it. that was the randomest question evr...
i have tiny hands that are freakishly double jointed in 2 places on all my fingers. my fingers and hands skinny and the bones are kinda square looking. ugh that sounds gross, but its not. my nails are extremely tiny and short and sort of uneven with no nail polish.
my hands are a tad bit small, wearing nail polish on my left hand, but not on my right (i don't trust anyone to paint my nails and i can't use my left hand for shiz.)

but my fingers are slim and long, my nuckles are sharp. also, if it matters, i'm very pale.
my hands are pretty big, just by a little.

    Long fingers.

red/magenta nail polish with white dots on my thumbs and ring fingers.chipped from wear and tear.

rough skin from doing this stupid project...so i need lotion, writing on back of left hand and my right pointer finger is demented.

    =)
i have medium ( not fat or SUPER skinny) fingers. their medium lol. but one of the im pricked. and my fingernails are really long and no nail polish lol

    help answr mine? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…
I have super small hands, but I'm small all over so they fit :)

I have a french manicure with blue, hot pink, white, and silver ';stripes'; and dots on them. I mean they don't look like a zebra or anything but I can't explain it lol.
My hands are small! But I also have long slender fingers :)

People always tease me for my small hands and long-ish fingers, but it comes in handy (no pun intended) when I'm playing the piano!

    - aand nope I'm not wearing any nail polish, it comes off too quickly for me!
My hands are kinda large, like they're skinny but really long. Good for piano i guess. I'm wearing pink nail polish with glitter, but it's coming off. I think once all of its off i'm going to put clear shiny nail polish on. for a change.

I have really small hands! Haha but I like it. I used to think it's weird but my other classmate has the same exact size as me so I think it's cool now for some reason. I only have nail polish on my thumb finger hahaha!:) It's pink :D
I have kinda big hands lol. I have on fake nails that I had professionally done painted into a french manicure.

But on my ring finger (left hand) and thumb (right hand) i have a green line and black dots tight where the white and pink separate :)
my hands are perfect for my height, but they look older than my age (even though i exfoliate and moisturize) and i have a rich red on too...

something about red nails really finishes off any outfit don't you think?

    :)
i have medium sized hands i guess loll and i get my nails done so i have tips [not that long] and its frnech manicure with a green and gold steak under the white [school colors] :D
actually just a few days ago the black nail polish that I had painted on a few months ago finally all came off. I'm terrible about freshening up my nail polish. Now they are clean without any polish, but not for long :):):):)
Um, clean, normal sized, not long fingers and blue nail polish on one, then white on the next, then blue and well you get the picture.

    The same with my feet.
I have large fat fingers in which i cannot even get into my ear with

they are super short as well and i am wearing a puke green nail polish

    jk

i have really long slender hands

and im wearing white nail polish
my hands are definitely not small. long fingers nails cut short. wearing peach on it.

two rings - gold in left and pearl in right hand , and my fingers are tired of slamming the keyboard :(((((((((((((
My hands are small, right now they need some lotion since I just finished cleaning by pet's toy and they're dry. I don't wear nail polish but I do polish them with a nail buffer and add some cuticle oil.
    um..

    weird question but okay.

small hands for my normal sized body.

no nail polish at the moment but my nails are perfectly shaped for a manicure.
I have small palms and long fingers, Im wearing spring green nail polish and my nails are short (cause I just had exams and I bit them :S)

No way, the color red does not look slutty at all. Just make sure that you don't wear any slutty clothes with the red nail polish. the color you paint your nails wont look slutty, its what you wear and how you act that could make you look slutty, as long as ur not a **** (wich i dout you are becuz ur asking how not 2 look like one) then people wont say n e thing or think anything about it.
It could, it depends on your skin, if you are very tan with brown hair i think it would look ok. But you should try something new like orange or blue or purple. That is what many people do is exotic colors!
Nothing wrong with it whatsoever! End of the day its not what you wear but how you act - i know girls who dressed plain and covered up but got themselves round. If anyone says it looks slutty they're narrow minded.

Nail Polish Remover Spilled on Carpet?

My sister spilled nail polish remover on our light brown carpet last night and now it's been bleached. It's like an orange-ish color. My mom is seriously mad and grounded both of us until we're about 100. Is there ANY way to remove the stain without removing the carpet?

Could we like dye it or anything?

You can get some fabric paint and redye the section that had the color removed. You will have to do it strand by strand and get several colors to do a best match.Nail Polish Remover Spilled on Carpet?
I hope your mother kept a bit of the extra carpet so it can be patched since she has bleached- not stained the color. You may need to redecorate or get a rug. Most carpet is nylon and is tough to dye back.
nail polish is acetone and it washed the dye away, so the stain is permanent. Find a nice throw rug, or call a local carpet place and ask their opinion.

Lots of cellulose paint thinner, then lots of washing up liquid or washing machine powder coupled with lots of hot water.

Is black finger nail polish still in?

It doesn't matter? If you like it do it, I paint my nails whatever color I like. Who cares. (:

%26amp; my friend's nails are black right now, so I guess it's still ' in '. Haha, good luck. (:Is black finger nail polish still in?
It was in for the winter, but now that we have moved into summer, bright neon colors, like coton candy blue, and bright pink, are in. But if you are older (over 30) then bright and deep reds are good to give you a good color that fits your age.
gross noo wayy!!! Black nail polish makes you seem more tough, and emo, and like a bully-ish image.... Why would you wanna look like a bully when your probably a really sweet person??????? I'm not being mean i'm just stating a fact. And proving a point.... byeee!
Honestly, I don't like it very much. I'd much rather wear a dark blue with a bit of shine. Black does go with everything though, and I don't hold anything against people who wear it. Personal choice.
If you want my opinion, I don't like black nail polish and I don't see a whole lot of people wear it so I don't really think it is popular.
No. Especially not for summer. For autumn, deep greens and blues will be more ';in';. Jewel tones for autumn, light pastels or pretty pinks/oranges for summer.
i mean if you like it wear it but i don't want you looking goth or emo because i et you are nice and sweet
    Yep.
yeah it could be, if not try purple or cute colours
yea!! black nail polish wont ever be ''out''

    Pregnant women and nail polish?

I just found out that I'm pregnant, again! =) I had a miscarriage about 7 months ago. Getting pregnant again makes both me and my husband very happy. I like nail polish and I'm just wondering if it is safe to use nail polish and nail polish remover during pregnancy?Pregnant women and nail polish?
Yes..go right ahead and make yourself beautiful! Congrats!Pregnant women and nail polish?
When i first got pregnant i was told that is one of the most toxic things you can use. They do make a non toxic nail polish that you can find at specialty stores. Since i cant stand looking at non painted toe nails I invested in a couple different colors of the non-toxic polish. Good Luck with your pregnancy!
I had the same question and my nurse told me that it was safe to use nail polish and nail polish remover. Just dont sit around inhaling the fumes as one of the other answer givers said. :-)
    Sure, honey!

    you can use nail polish.

just dont be smelling it a lot or inhaling any other fumes,

other than that you are just fine.

i hope everything goes well and congratulations!

    (:
As long as your not ingesting it its safe to use.

I found very oddly that the nail polish smell bothered my sinuses so much I got cold like symptoms every time I tried using it (no being able to breath all congested, coughing)
I was tole by my doctor it was ok as long as when I used the remover I was in a well ventilated room and didn't breath in the fumes. Congratulations.
    Yes to both! A-oK!
Live! As soon as you don't make a habit of sniffing the polish.

    Yep.
yeah it could be, if not try purple or cute colours
yea!! black nail polish wont ever be ''out''
in my opinion, it makes u look classy, so ya

A-oK!
Live! As soon as you don't make a habit of sniffing the polish.
    yes it is,

Nail polish remover cleaning violin strings?

is that okay? does it make it clean or worse? will it make the sound better? does it harm anything? should i do that? please tell me. :] thank you! all answers appreciated. [[except jokes]]Nail polish remover cleaning violin strings?
No: don't use that. You should use the following:

    Fiddlebrite

    http://www.elderly.com/accessories/items鈥?/a>

Don't use nailpolish anywhere near the violin!!! It'll strip the wood, and is not intended for violin strings.

You can use (if you must) rubbing alcohol, but only a tiny, tiny amount, and only if you put several layers of clean, dry cloth between the strings and the wood of the fingerboard and violin. Careful!!Nail polish remover cleaning violin strings?

  • I dont have nail polish remover how do i make my own?

I really dont have any and i just did my nails since i was bored %26amp; it came out ugly is there anything i can do 10 pnts to someone who gets it offI dont have nail polish remover how do i make my own?
    * Any product containing acetone or methyl-ethyl-ketone (MEK) will remove nail polish. This can include many paint-thinning or removal products, including lacquer thinner. However, these products can rapidly dehydrate human skin, and are highly inflammable.

In addition, pure acetone has a flash point similar to gasoline (petrol) and vapours can be ignited by a nearby flame... it can also dissolve lots of common plastics....

    * Consumer nail polish remover is actually 60% acetone. But the remainder is moisturizers and water to reduce the impact on the skin, and to make it safer to use....

    * Polish can also be dissolved with more (wet) nail polish. It is recommended that this be done with clear nail polish, one finger at a time.

    * While DEET, the active ingredient in insect repellent, may also be effective, it is not recommended; it is also very damaging to many household plastics.

    * Another alternative is to use use peel-off nail polish instead.

I hope to get the 10ptsI dont have nail polish remover how do i make my own?
yeah, the people who said wiping off a new coat of really wet polish are right. it works really good. but rubbing alcohol doesn't work as said above. I wish i knew that a couple days ago because I had the same situation as you and I tryed the alcohol and it dried my hands out.
You can actually use polish over it and wipe right away with a kleenex to take most of it off but you will have to repeat around the edges to get it all. The key is wiping while the new coat is wet.
This is just a hypothesis but i know germ x (hand sanitizer) takes off sharpie so maybe it will take off nail polish. Lemme no if it works!
I know this may seem odd, but applying more and wiping it off while it's still wet can get some off. If you have acetone, that will work too.

How Can I Get My Dad To Understand That I Am Not Gay Cause I Wear Black Nail Polish And To Let Me Wear It?

He Is The Stubborn TypeHow Can I Get My Dad To Understand That I Am Not Gay Cause I Wear Black Nail Polish And To Let Me Wear It?
    You can't.

But you could try fire engine red and ask him which color he prefers. How Can I Get My Dad To Understand That I Am Not Gay Cause I Wear Black Nail Polish And To Let Me Wear It?
Who cares what your dad thinks or feel.Go with what you want. The only thing a parent wants to feel for his child is proudness.Make him proud. That's what matters most, not nail polish or being gay.
Why do you want to wear nail polish, what's so cool about that, no I was just wondering but if you wanna do it just convince your dad and not make him angry cuz he won't let you.

    Good luck!!!! :)
let him catch you pashing a girl. lots of guys wear black nail polish anyway.
start wearing bright pink nail polish

    and see what he says.
Let him catch you with a girl and say you're emo or somthing.
Tell him that being gay is genetic, and wearing nailpolish wouldn't make you that way. Tell him you are young, this is what girls find incredibly sexy, and what is cool and ';tough'; these days. Those are overly simplistic points, but will get the point accross that you AREN'T gay to a man who has no experience with what it means to be gay.
Bring a girl home, and pass her off as your gf (even if he isn't) or have a very handsome guy come onto you, and turn him down infront of him.
Explain to him like he's totally dense, ';Dad, wearing black nail polish will not make me gay. Having sex with dudes would make me gay. Gosh!'; Then shake your head as you walk away, very manfully.
You don't say how old you are, but I'm guessing over 13. However, no mater how old you are, the fact that your dad is so against your wearing black nail polish is enough for me to advise you to stop wearing it..for now. That will convince your Dad that you respect his authority. Then you will have, hopefully, his attention for long enough to talk with him about why you want to wear it. Certainly you are entitled to some forms of expressing your personality...it's just that this may be just a bit more than your Dad can handle. As for his thinking you are gay, if you have explained why you want to wear the polish clearly enough, you can then finish with,';And no, I'm not gay. I'm as heterosexual as you are; you don't have to worry.'; That should help him out and open communication between the two of you.

P.S. If he still doesn't want you to wear the polish, just forget it and get on with your life. There is so much more to like that style or fashion that's it's just not worth fighting about.
show him the Instyle article in Novembers 06 issue, guys do wear black nail polish, also let him catch you wih a girl....horizontially I mean, If he saw this you will be the man in the house
Tell him that this is a way of expressing yourself (if you're of those guys who wears all black and listen to Rock music) and that there's no wrong on painting your nails, it's not like you have a boyfriend!
What is aesthetically pleasing about black nail polish?

I think your died-black emo hair is covering your eyes.
i think it's totally hot!!!!! my fave celebrity is pete wentz, from fall out boy, and he has black fingernails. if you're a guy and you wear black nail polish,it just means you are a rocker,or you might start some kind of band(if you already haven't). but seriously, i think it's hot, and my friends do,too. don't worry what your dad says, parents just love to find somthing wrong with kids.

P.S. tell him you are what you are, no one can change that.
get a job and move out, problem solved.

    the golden rule:

he who has the gold makes the rules.

Sucks i know but when you get older you'll wonder what he.ll you were thinking, we all do.

    Why do you ??
my guy said he likes it when i do my nails
He's not as vain as most men are, a brilliant mind is more important to him. That and some curves to hold onto, he doesn't like model thin or circus fat. My husband finds healthy women with sharp minds most attractive, but all and all he could care less about physical appearance and more about brain power. He just got lucky with me, two for one deal, attractive and intelligent.
My toes and fingers have white tips..**only.
Ha just put nail varnish on now =].

How do i preserve my nail polish?

i have tried buying many types of nail polishes but it always thickens up...all the nail paints ranges from 100 to 500 bucks.i cannot afford to waste MY money in this way.how can i prevent it from thickning???How do i preserve my nail polish?
You store it in the fridge until you want to use it.

And/or you add a few drops of acetone every so often. How do i preserve my nail polish?
Why in the world would you spend that on nail polish when there are perfectly fine ones for a few dollars a bottle? Go to any beauty supply store and you have a lot of options for less expensive polishes and also things that will maybe preserve your polish. I have bought several bottles of polish that have lasted me years (for colors I rarely use) so I don't know why yours would be thickening up like that. Mine were relatively cheap products, too. A thought: Sometimes the more expensive items are not the best quality!
Always make sure the cap is tight when it's put back on the bottle. BTW, there are NO nail polishes on the market that cost that much money. Not even close to it. But if you have proof of this, I'd love to see it. I
You can go to a place like Sally Beauty Supply and buy a bottle of Nailpolish Thinner. Put a few drops in and shake when it thickens up.

I've been using it for years %26amp; it works.
The best way to preserve your nail polish is to buff your nails before polishing them. Apply a top coat after applying your nail polish.
I've heard putting nailpolish into the fridge helps.

Avoid leaving the bottle open, this dries it out.

thats some expensive nail polish! :)

putting your nail polish in the fridge keeps it perfect. i do it all the time!

    :)
put ur nailpaint in a pastic wrap and put it in the fridge...b4 using warm it in a cup of hot water
OMG...$100 DOLLARS to 500?? per bottle?? I couldnt afford to waste MY money that way either :) Lower your expectations and buy a cheaper brand :)

its christmas eve so i cant go out cause familys here and i just painted my nails and relized i dont have any nailspolish remover and i need it!is there any homemade recipe for nail polish remover?!Can you make a homemade nail polish remover?
rubbing alcohol ;) be sure to wash your hands good with soap after usage. nail polish remover uses rubbing alcohol, and it works just as good. i find the smell repulsive though, just warning you. depending on the type of nail polish, some can be removed simply by running warm water over them and rubbing with soap. Can you make a homemade nail polish remover?
In short, no. Nail polish remover is acetone. You can technically make it but you'd need some pretty mad chemistry skills to make it in your bathroom.
    Acetone is the same stuff.
    perfume works just fine

How To Remove Cosmetic And Nail Polish Stains

Do you do your own nails and makeup? If you do, there is sure to be a time that you have spilled nail polish or other cosmetics on your furniture, clothing, or flooring. The only way to keep from having nail polish accidents is to do your nails in the backyard while you are naked! Other cosmetics like foundation, blush, mascara, and eye shadow also cause stains that may be difficult to remove. It is best to learn how to take care of those nail polish and cosmetic accidents before they occur so that you will be able to treat them as soon as they happen. Treating the stains as soon as possible will help your success rate in removing the stain completely.

Nail Polish Acetone Remover For Nail Polish Stains

Nail polish remover takes the polish off your nails, doesn鈥檛 it? It will work on most nail polish stains, whether on clothing or furniture. Apply the nail polish remover to the stain and then lightly blot the stain. Apply detergent and warm water to make sure that you have removed the stain completely and then wash as usual with your detergent. You may have to apply the nail polish remover and blot several times to remove all of the nail polish stain. Do not give up!

I would try lifting the spot with a razor blade. Be sure and wet the area first, so you don't scratch the finish of the desk.

Acetone (polish remover) will eat into most finishes, so if you do use it, try applying it to the spot with a q-tip. Very carefully and wiping with a damp cloth before it damages the finish. Hopefully, it would soften the polish and let you take it off.

Do you do your own nails and makeup? If you do, there is sure to be a time that you have spilled nail polish or other cosmetics on your furniture, clothing, or flooring. Apply the nail polish remover to the stain and then lightly blot the stain. If your nail polish is streaky, it's just thin or light colored, probably. Try multiple layers. Put on one layer. Let that dry completely. Then add another layer. This works for me with streaky nail color.

Like, if you paint all but your pinkie black and paint that pink (hot pink) does it mean anything? or vice-versa. Does any nail polish (white, black, and pink.) do they have any kind of meaning?
No I don't think painting your nails a specific way has any meaning unless it means something to you.Does any nail polish (white, black, and pink.) do they have any kind of meaning?

    Can nail polish damage nails?

the other day while out shopping i was accosted by a lady trying to sell very expensive nail treatment kits (拢25!). needless to say i politely turned her down but before i went on my merry way she asked me to remove the polish i was wearing (french manicure pink) as the glue and other assorted chemicals can damage nails very badly. is this true or is nail polish safe to use?Can nail polish damage nails?
i can't see how it could damage you nails. nails are already dead. but just to be sure, ask an older woman who polished hers regularly and see how hers are. I've never heard of anyone having problems. Can nail polish damage nails?
Actually, I paint my nails all the time (once a week or more) and nail polish/remover is VERY bad for your nails. Be carefull with how much you paint yours or use a nail/ cuticle cream such as Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme. It really does do wonders and doesn't cost a bundle!

nail polish will damage your nails if its left on to long and put on without a base coat you really should take it off and reapply every week
Most modern polishes don't damage your nails, but the glue used to attach false nails will do a lot of damage, I know the kit the lady was trying to sell you, she was only quoting the information she had been given, not very accurate. My grandmother wore nail polish everyday of her life and had the best, strongest nails of anyone I have ever known. So long as you buy good quality polish, it will never harm your nails.
if your nails become yellow it means there is not enough oxygen getting to your nail bed and it can result in fungal infections.

lightly buff your natual nail to remove any oil from the surface of the nail before you apply your polish.

alwyas use a nail polish remover which has vitamin e or keratin in it
Nail polish is the same as car paint. Nail polish can discolor the nail. Darker colors will do this more so then lighter color. A french manicure will not make your nails yellow because the colors or very light. A base coat will help with the nail polish form turning the nail yellow. If your worried about your nails drying out use a formaldehyd free products.

Beware of Beauty Counters. Those sales associates are trying to sell you. Half the time they doesn't know what they are talking about except what the cosmetic company has taught them. I hope I helped you out.
    yes no yes
In my experience, yes it is damaging if you don't give your nails a rest after a while. My nails became yellow after wearing polish constantly for months.Let them get some air once in a while!
If you wear nail polish 7days a week without removing it ,when you rempve it you will see that your nails turn to yellow colour. Perhaps lack of oxygen is the reason.

You can remove it at nights and in the morning do it again.
Nail polish can turn your nails yellow, but this can be prevented if you use a colourless protective coat before applying the colour varnish. There are also some varnishes and products we use to remove the polish that cause white ';shadows';(spots) on the nails or make them peel, but that depends on how good the product is and how sensitive your nails are.If you use good products and you know your nails don't peel off every time you remove the polish, then you won't have a problem.
Hi, i know some nail varnished can damage your nails and make them brittle especialy if you dont use a conditoning nail basecoat first before applying your nail varnish. Also you have to use a conditioning hand and nail cream. But if you use dark nail varnish then it does make you nails go yellow over time as it stains the nail even though you use nail varnish remover. But people have been wearing nail varnish for years and it hasnt botherd them. I think the lady was just trying to worry you because you didnt by her nail varnish, which is probably ten times as worse filled with loads of chemicals, so there is no need to worry.
Nail polish is made from chemicals which can be harmful if used for a long period of time. Your nails will start to go yellow and become damaged if you are allergic to the types of glue used in some manicure do-it-yourself packs.

I would give your nails a rest now or then.
if you use it too much it will damage your nails.
its not the varnish that harms the nails.

glue does, as it takes a surface of you nail off also.

    and some removers damage it.

never pick your varnish no matter how tempting as again takes a surface of nail.

but all in all not that bad carry on!!!!

    ;-)
That is not true based on the fact that the new generations's nail polishes are made to protect and nourish the nails. The only thing that can in a way spoil nails is when u polish them with intense colours like red without using a base can get yellow...

I think she was trying hard to sell nail treatment kits to you.
It's true. You have to take it off and give your nails good treatment constantly if you must wear polish often.

What does nail polish smell like?

I think it has a vaguely banana smell to it. XDWhat does nail polish smell like?
If you buy Anna Sui nail polish it smells like rose which is why I love them. What does nail polish smell like?
Depends. If it's organic, water based it may have a fruity smell (I guess? never smelled it...) Regular B3F (meaning it doesn't have toluene, formaldehyde, or dibutyl phthalate) formulas smell like chemicals, and formulas with the three bad chemicals smell strong and just bad.
I think it smells like urine? Like, a seriously strong smell that makes me choke on it. Kind of. Uhh..
It depends what kind it is.

I spilled blue nail polish over light tan/brown/pinkish carpet and I was wondering if Windex would work because we don't have any Nail Polish remover?Dried nail polish out of carpet?
Windex doesn't work on nail polish. If it's still wet, you can try dish soap or tooth past. If not, the only way it's getting out is remover, and that may stain your carpet.Dried nail polish out of carpet?
Here is a site that I would highly recommend. They have very high quality stain removal techniques. I would suggest repeating the process after the first application, and rinsing the rug out with cool water in between applications. Best of luck!
windex might work, but probably not. You need acetone. I never cleaned dry polish up, but when I spilled a ton of nailpolish once, I used nail polish remover and dish soap. Hope that works out for ya!
I've had this happen before.Try a mix of Ajax cleanser(or what ever brand you have) and lemon soap.

How do you get nail polish out of a bed comforter?

the comforter is suedeHow do you get nail polish out of a bed comforter?
First off, I would find it hard to believe that your bed comforter is made from suede. Are you sure it isn't just microfiber ';faux suede';. Look on the label for fabric content. I have really never in my life seen a real suede comforter.

Do not ';bleach'; it as some people say here. Bleach has no power to remove nail polish. It will just ruin anything and everything you put it on.

Without any real knowledge of the fabric, I cannot suggest a method other than the dry cleaners (a professional one). They would know the best methods to successfully removing the stain. How do you get nail polish out of a bed comforter?
If the comforter is white, then bleach it. If it isn't, use nail polish remover on it. Poor a little over the stain and keep blotting. Then soak it in a spray and wash or do laundry detergent and hot water. This is what worked for me.

    Good luck! ;-)

GUYS: do you like girls that wear nail polish?

I absolutely always notice a woman's nails. It's the 2nd thing I look at after the face.

Professional great looking nails, a feminine length (at least 1mm longer than finger tips) or longer and well finished - almost any finish - is a sign of a well groomed, attentive woman. If she's diligent enough to look after her nails, she's probably more likely to look after areas of herself - both physical and psychological. Probably also pays more attention to detail than others without manicure.

I like clear, French, most reds, pinks, 2 tones, dark metallic blues, shimmer, glitter as long as the finish suits the outfit, occasion and demeanor of the lady. There is some nail art I've liked as well, but it's difficult to have something that'll match all your outfits and venues during the week. Not really turned on by short nails colored black - unless it's new year's and black has shimmer in it - but still not turned on by very short nails. Personally - I define too short nails as those shorter than length of fingertip - or even cut down to nail bed. Ouch! It even hurts to look at some of the extremely short nails I've seen. Even if you do prefer them short - and it's certainly your choice (some women need short nails due to occupation/activity) there is no excuse for them being unkempt. That is, chipped, uneven broken, split nails should not be seen. We all experience damage to our hands and nails, but the nail damage can almost certainly be fixed by a competent nail technician at almost any salon. I've had many nail ';incidents'; but always get it fixed as good as possible by my nail tech. Hey! I'm a happily married, straight male and I like to have my nails manicured and polished (clear) - so why would a women be concerned about wearing polish? You shouldn't be. It's just polish.

I seen a lady (young) wear a different bright neon color on every finger. Well, it worked for her, but wouldn't for others.

In direct answer to your question, personally, I do like pearly white or other pearl effect colors. Colors that compliment your outfit and just great looking nails - not too far out there, are a definite turn on - to me anyway. It shows a level of sophisticated grooming that most educated men notice. If you're out to attract or get noticed by ditch diggers - then most of them probably wouldn't care about your nails. No offense intended to ditch diggers.

Summary: Yes. Guys like women to wear nail polish. Most colors okay. Neutral, off-white, pearly colors all okay. Definite turn-on.GUYS: do you like girls that wear nail polish?
    We had this poll a few days ago, and most guys said they never noticed or paid attention, while most women were like, ';you think dudes look at our nails?';

I personally only notice if you pick an unusual color like orange, red, green, navy blue, magenta... something not sold by brands like L'Oreal. Really, NYC or O.P.I Brights will get attention.GUYS: do you like girls that wear nail polish?
i don't think the color really mater if it's simple. with a nice design is ok.multi color elaborate design or extreme in the length make girls look high maintenance and vain. i hate to see a cashier trying to use a keypad with a nine inch nail style.
Yeah-if its pink or red. Other colors such as green or blue just look funky and goofy to me.

Does anyone out there know. Why does nail polish have rattling sound inside?

I was doing nail polish and heard the rattling from the nail polish and wondered. why did they make the rattling soundDoes anyone out there know. Why does nail polish have rattling sound inside?
theres one or 2 lil metal balls inside to help even the polish out.Does anyone out there know. Why does nail polish have rattling sound inside?
Thats because inside there would be a metal ball to stop the nail polish from getting hard and clumpy =] Simple as that
dunno smash it on the ground open it and find out
small metal ball inside to help mix it when you shake it
Its a small metal ball inside. Your supposed to shake the nail polish before every use so its not clumpy when you use it.

The metal ball is for mixing!
every nail polish has a little metal ball inside of it that helps prevent the nail polish from clumping. :)
theirs a metal ball kind of like a buller=t and when you shake it, it stirs the nail pollish (like when you stir cake batter or something) so the oil in the nail polish doesnt rise to the top like you will see with really old nail pollish.

PLEASE PICK ME AS BEST ANSWER.
ha ha there is a ball inside so that if the polish has been sitting around u can shake it and the ball will mix it up. don't worry i didn't no that either. =]

No I think black nail polish should not be considered ';emo'; because well that's quite shallow. It's not like you're wearing black all the time and is starting to listen to depressing, emotional songs. A shade of nail polish will not change your personality or your interests.

Well, I would wear black nail polish no matter what comments i get from people, except like there is poison in the nail polish or anything but other than dat, i would wear it! And btw, ur mom is wrong, black nail polish doesnt look emo....i wear em all the time n to tell the truth i m only 11. Parents are sometimes like dat, but they still loves and cares for u? Aint I rite? Hehe! =)
I wear it from time to time simply because I like the way it looks. No doubt some people will think it looks emo or gothic but I try not to think about that. If a guy like me can wear it and not be too bothered then I think it shouldn't be a problem for girls.
Nope, because when you do wear it, then people label you as emo and I dont like that label. This is because when you are emo, people try to avoid you.
Haha my mom said the same thing. But once I put it on it looks very chic and polished. But make sure your nails are short and you put a clear coat on top to make it shine and so it doesn't chip.
I'm not emo, and I still wear it.

In fact, I hardly ever paint my nails any other color.

If it's what you like, then go for it :]
if you look in magazines you see plenty of NON EMO celebs wearing black nailpolish... its not emo at all unless you dress that way also
I would not wear it. But at the same time,I don't think it makes you look emo, my friends wear it and their not emo.
I cant believe your own mother stereotypes kids. Tsk, tsk.

Do what you want. You should tell your mom no one should be judged by their appearance.
My mom gets psd off at me when i use labels for ppl (and i'm 13). Yeah, i wear black nail polish a lot. I get called emo at school, its annoying and lame.
I'm preppy, but I would wear it. (I hang with the preppy people, so I asume I am preppy, I also by clothes from preppy stores)
maybe sometimes. Im not emo at all, but I do. I would definitly pick a brighter colour for summer though instead of black..
i would and im not emo. but your mom is kinda right. it is considered sort of an emo thing.
yeah, i don't like black nailpolish, its too dark and my mom never let me wear it (i wouldn't want to anyways)
    ON HALLOWEEN
I wear black nail polish and am not emo!

    I love black nail polish!

    =]
naw im not allowed to cuhs my mom said it looks devilishh.
    It makes you look EMO.
    IT DOESNT MAKE GIRLS EMO

    IT LOOKS TRENDY AND COOL

I WEAR IT ALL THE TIME
im far from emo but i would wear it.
ummmmmm thnx for callin me emo i guess. thats all i wear.
    I would, and I have :) I love it.
I wear it all the time...who cares what everyone else thinks?
It's def emo - Not really my taste, but to each his own.
heck yeah ^_^ i have :] its awesome

Best nail polish for my skin tone?

I have a beige skin tone and I'm looking for summer colors!

thanks!Best nail polish for my skin tone?
Go for some nice corals and light reds. Pinks will also work is you like to wear a lot of darker toned outfits.

But, I am currently wearing YELLOW even though that might sounds a little weird to some people. I do, however, get a lot of compliments on my nails since the yellow is really gorgeous.

If you want a really good quality nail polish, I suggest Chanel (I have all their nail polishes and makeup and the yellow color is great!)

Best of luck and I hope I helped! :)Best nail polish for my skin tone?
    PINK!!

oh yeah and white is good

Is there a such thing as organic nail polish?

i wanted to buy nail polish that is safe for ages 5 and upIs there a such thing as organic nail polish?
yes there is, but it is not very good at all, its very streaky and takes forever to dry

if your concerned about snesitivty, i would look for a nail polish that is formaddhyde free. most nailpolishes are starting to do this. OPI is great nail polish and their sub-brand nicole is excellent (also part of the proceeds go to breat cancer charity for nicole products)Is there a such thing as organic nail polish?

What is the best nail polish color?

for long skinny fingersWhat is the best nail polish color?
navy navy blue, so dark it almost looks black. its all over the runways, i just got the sally hansen navy baby and i love it!!What is the best nail polish color?
your fingers aren't the determinant of the color of nailpolish - it's your coloring, the outfit and the look you want. i prefer natural, buffed nails, no polish, always trim and smoothly filed. much classier IMO than any color of polish. there are buffers that make the nail surface actually shiny.
i really like deepish pink, like this

it makes your fingers look long and slender.

WILL NAIL POLISH REMOVER DAMAGE THE PAINT ON A CAR?

i JUST BOUGHT A CAR AND THE PERSON WHO HAD IT BEFORE SPRAY PAINTED THE GAS TANK COVER BLACK i THINK IT LOOKS STUIPID. WHAT WILL TAKE IT OFF WITH OUT DAMAGING THE PAINT ON THE CAR?WILL NAIL POLISH REMOVER DAMAGE THE PAINT ON A CAR?
most likely yes -if its latex paint try oopsWILL NAIL POLISH REMOVER DAMAGE THE PAINT ON A CAR?
Absolutely sure it will damage your paint or clearcoat. Nail polish is used to REMOVE paint, so it would probably eat right through your paint after it removes the spray paint.

What is your favorite Nail Polish color?

I used to wear all different colors when I was younger, but now I tend to stick to pretty basic ones. I used to wear red a lot, but this summer I started wearing this amazing coral color. I think I'll retire it for the winter since I'll be really pale by then. Right now I've been wearing a lot a pinks though. What is your favorite Nail Polish color?

Dried nail polish out of carpet?

I spilled blue nail polish over light tan/brown/pinkish carpet and I was wondering if Windex would work because we don't have any Nail Polish remover?Dried nail polish out of carpet?
No, windex won't do it. Cut it out or use polish remover/acetone. However test it a corner 1st to make sure it doesn't further damage your carpet.

Put down a runner or area rug.Dried nail polish out of carpet?
My daughter decided our brand new carpet was too boring, so she took nail polish and made rainbows! (Thought I would die!!!) I didn't have polish remover, but did research and found this...you want to go to the store and get NON acetone nail polish remover. Take cotton balls or qtips and rub in circles until you no longer see the polish. After that you will want to rinse the carpet with warm water and dishsoap (just a few drops). Use a wash cloth and rub in circles. The nail polish was on the carpet for 24 hours, good and dried. This worked perfectly! Just make sure you buy NON Acetone remover - the other stuff will eat the carpet! Hope this helps!
Here is a site that I would highly recommend. They have very high quality stain removal techniques. I would suggest repeating the process after the first application, and rinsing the rug out with cool water in between applications. Best of luck!
let it dry and pick it off i think
