Why does nail polish have that little ball in it?

basically its to let you know if the polish is drying out or not, depending on how fast the ball is moving through the bottle when shaken, from one extreme to another, if the ball is moving pretty fast when shaken then its good, but if you dont hear it at all then the polish is dried out.Why does nail polish have that little ball in it?
It's to help mix the colors. As for drying out, the thickness of the polish when you use it tells you that!

Agreed, it's primarily to mix the nailpolish up which you are supposed to do before using.

I used to put a bit of nailpolish remover into the bottle once it got real thick...hey, didn't get a lot when we were kids so learned to extend the life of whatever we could! :~)

LOL Hey Eve! Nothing wrong with that trick~I still do it today!!!

BTW folks, it's the exact same principle used in cans of spray paint; to mix it and keep the colour even!

Yeah, the ball is to mix the polish (You're supposed to shake the bottle before each use) as well as to mix the different pigments of color in the liquid. It's not to let you know how much is left in the bottle, cause obviously, when the bottle is empty you'll still be able to hear the ball.

its 4 mixin it up properly n sumtymz they put it in liquid eyelinerz 2..
when you shake it, the ball helps mix the polish around because it will be thick if you dont and the color will ';seperate';
to gradually release the liquid instead of pouring large amounts.
Because sometimes overtime if you leave a bottle of nail polish out you can see the color start to separate, but if you shake it the ball help mixes the color up so you can use it again. I don't think I've ever had a bottle of nail polish without the ball haha I've always been temped to take it out.
To mix it up. Do they still put those in polish? I can't remember the last time I had a bottle with one...
to help mix it.
actually its neither of the other answers, the small spheres in the nailpolish are kept in there for mixing as well as they are made of a metal like lead to keep the nailpolish from going bad.
To stir the contents-
When you shake nail polish, the metal ball helps swirl it around and keep the color evenly distributed.
because if you leave the bottle of nail-pollish by itself for a while it will become dried up and seperated so the ball is used to mix it up . plus i think it also keeps the liquid from just spilling out of the top of the bottle .

hope this helps
so it does not dry up.
That way when you shake it, it helps mix up the Nailpolish better.
BECAUSE IT`S A MALE BOTTLE ...DUH
