How to fix wooden desk surface damaged by nail polish remover :(?

my wife decided to do her nails on my brand new desk, and she just put a little towel on top, of course nail polish remover leaked through and damaged the surface of the desk, its a black wooden desk.

please help! How to fix wooden desk surface damaged by nail polish remover :(?
The question asked is impossable to answer without seeing the damage caused. the finish can possably be blended back in and clear coated since your dealing with a black as compared to other colors so thats in your favor. The average homeowner does not usually have the equipment needed to refinish cabinets, doors and black desks so you should look in yellow pages ( not internet yellow pages ) under cabinets and find a competent refinisher. there are alot of refinishers that shouldn,t be so maybe you can get a referal somewhere. ask what products they will be using to catch them off guard if they dont know what their doing you will hear uuumm and they will drool. If by some fluke you live in the Phoenix AZ. area call A First Class Alternative . He is truly the best of the best. I am grateful that i learned from him.To totally refinish the top of your desk goes for around $350.00 tops. hope this helps. How to fix wooden desk surface damaged by nail polish remover :(?
My guess is you have an inexpensive (under $500) wood desk painted black. Nail polish remover works like a weak paint stripper. I'd touch up the spots with matching black paint. and buy a desk pad at Staples to cover most the top of the desk. You could also get someone to cover the top with Formica.
It depends? Can you see wood grain through the black finish Or smooth black finish only? But yes it can be fixed. Need more input. It could be stained black with clear finsh, or it could be black lacquer. I can tell you how to fix this, but need more info.
It was told once by a furniture restorer to put mayo on it let it set for 15 minutes and then wipe away. It work on my kithcen table. Good luck
sand and re stain
